Today many commentators observe that Kenya is well placed to serve as an engine of growth in East Africa after years of economic stagnation due to poor management and uneven commitment to tackling corruption. Recent economic development show resumed growth since 2001 has inspired a degree of certainty and confidence. |
Thus the creation of 70.71 Group which we believe is well placed to capitalize on this newly found inertia. 70.71 Group is a unique brand that is diversified into different sectors through investment and strategic collaborations.
Our initial implementation phase begins in Kenya due to three factors:
- familiarity of location,
- lower initial investment compared to Europe or North America
- higher margin of return from investments in emerging markets
Emerging Market Century (book by Antoine van Agtmael) informs us that while our attention was focused on the "new economy" a few years ago, "new economies" quietly stole the show. We are in the midst of the greatest shift in the global economy since the Industrial Revolution. This time, the economic epicenter is shifting away from the developed world to emerging markets in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.
